Playback Records (recording studio) and Bocage Jewelry Open For Business !!!

September 2, 2008 no comments

Playback Records just opened!!!!!!!   The space doubles as a high end recording studio and workspace for the amazing jewelery line - Bocage… We recently cruised by for a tour and were blown away with the time, energy, and overall effort that has gone into the renovations. The decor is a mix of antique, industrial, and earth rich tones. The acoustics in the 5 different sound rooms create perfect tones making Playback Recording Studio Santa Barbara’s #1 spot to record that chart topping album.Congratulations and Best wish’s to Tucker and Stephanie !!!!!!!!!

The Pearl Hotel San Diego

August 24, 2008 no comments

Our friends at The Pearl Hotel have truly defined the moto- “Down to Earth,Up With Style” - We have been fortunate enough to stay with them twice thus far and each experience was a blast. The Pearl is a 1950’s 23 room hotel located in (Point Loma) San Diego. They have transformed the Hotel into a mix of modern meets mid-century design. It most def. gets our pick for hippest spot to rest your head while visiting beautiful San Diego.

the grand opening party

July 6, 2008 no comments

Who says no electricity equals no fun? We had a blast! Thank you to everyone for bringing your good energy in spite of no lights or music. We realized if we booze people up enough, no one really notices that we’re all standing around in the dark. Also, thank you to all the people that made this whole thing possible….we love you!

Motel Nostalgia

June 5, 2008 no comments

This video -Motel Nostalgia- truly helps capture a lost generation of the roadside motel.Created by Wayne Curtis - It is a showcase of Architectural Design that was meant to captivate and draw in those in search of a affordable place to rest their heads. I especially LOVED it because it showcases the Mid- Century Motels that I skateboarded past everyday growing up on Treasure Island ( a barrier island located of the St.Petersburg,Fl. peninsula)-I believe this is where my passion and love for old Motels and Architecture originates from…. I was actually part of a group that was fighting to save these Architectural Gems…….unfortunately we lost and they have all been bulldozed and replaced by huge condos :( HOWEVER -THERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS-US FOLKS HERE AT THE PRESIDIO BELIEVE IN PRESERVATION AND WOULD NEVER DREAM OF LETTING A PRICE TAG DESTROY OUR BEAUTIFUL 1950s MOTEL !!!!

Olio E Lemone Ristorante

June 2, 2008 no comments

We dined at the Santa Barbara staple -Olio E Lemone Ristorante-this past week. This restaurant receives our pick for the best authentic Italian cuisine we have found in our “neck of the woods”. My meal-

Ravioli d’Anatra ai Funghi Porcini:
Housemade duck ravioli with creamy porcini mushroom sauce-

was our favorite and is our recommendation. We also tried the

Quaglie con Salsiccia, Polenta e Caponata:
Roasted quails stuffed with sausage served with polenta and Sicilian “ratatouille”

which was equally as good..The Presidio Motel suggests you go pay them a visit yourself  -finisci di mangiare!
